Zed Editor Integration

Current Status: In Development

The native AdMyChat Zed extension is currently in active development. Zed distributes extensions through its official registry repository, compiled to sandboxed WebAssembly (wasm32-wasip1).

Because Zed's extension host is currently headless (focused on Language Servers, DAP, themes, and MCP context servers), visual components like custom status-bar widgets and live earnings tickers are awaiting Zed's upstream Visual Extension API.

Architecture & Roadmap

• Headless WASM Engine: Compiles to native WebAssembly with zero garbage collection overhead and minimal resource footprint.
• Privacy-Preserving Attention Timing: Measures focused editor activity without ever reading buffer contents, files, or syntax trees.
• Visual Extension Readiness: Prepared to integrate directly into Zed's status bar as soon as Zed's UI extension RFC lands in stable releases.

Multi-IDE Setup via Cargo CLI

If you work across multiple editors (such as VS Code, Cursor, Windsurf, VSCodium, Positron, or Trae alongside Zed), you can activate AdMyChat instantly using our Cargo package:

cargo install admychat
admychat

This scans your environment and activates the AdMyChat extension across all supported editor installations on your machine.
